Our Process
The Talucafeed Process
- Waste is placed in STORAGE bins or MARKED bags depending on the type of product. Bags & Bins are marked with “not for human consumption”
- We request a SAMPLE of the waste product the sample will be sent away and ANALYZED to determine the NUTRITIONAL value.
- The product will be LOADED and TRANSPORTED by our own vehicles. Collection dates & load sizes will be liaised between Talucafeeds & Client
Why We Do The Analysis
The Analysis on wasted feedstuff is merely to understand the value for inclusion into rations for farm animals ie / Pigs and ruminants
First the waste is dried in the oven, once dry matter content is determined, a wetchem is done to determine the protein, fat & fibre & energy value
For optimum production farm rations need to be balanced for at least the values as mentioned from the results.
The material is then transported to a participating farm and typically dumped onto a concrete pad to be mixed directly, without further processing, into a total mixed ration (TMR) that contains other feedstuffs or is fed directly to livestock.
Educating Farmers & Management
When the product is delivered to the farm we ensure that the farmer and the management on the farm is EDUCATED & that the Food Waste supplied is kept under lock and key and that using it as a portion of a feed ration it will be done under strict supervision.
The reason for this being so that no product is taken and resold for human consumption. Thus not harming the market for the production company.
Collection of each product will vary due to the product size, volumes and lifespan. Meaning how long the product can be kept before it is completely useless and rotten.
